This series was completed from 2004 through 2005. The intention behind the series was to simplify my drawing process by limiting myself to black or otherwise using black to heighten the whiteness of the paper or intensify an idea about light, color or shape. I was also interested in the contrasts between the flat matte texture of charcoal and the sheen of graphite.
