Imaginary Landscapes Double Exposure Photographs

I have always loved Science Fiction, the Supernatural and also most things that are highly unusual or hardly believable at first glance. In my photography, I will occasionally manipulate an image to push it further into the realm of the magical.

Double Exposures 1978 – 1988: In going over the hundreds of slides taken on cross-country road trips, I would look for pairs of slides that when placed one over the other would make interesting double images. Often, one or both of the slides would be slightly overexposed so that the paired image wouldn’t become too dense. These were the days of cardboard slide mounts. I would remove two transparencies from their mounts and recombine them in a new mount. This was my kind of technology—simple, primitive and mechanical, something I could do with my hands.
